Blood Drive

Macey Robinson, Public Relations Prefect —

On Tuesday, a group of Year 12 and Year 13 students went to the NZ Blood service to donate blood. During this experience, we learned about the various medicines our blood would then be used for and how many New Zealanders actually rely on the blood service to help them. It was gratifying knowing that a single blood donation can help save the lives of 6 Kiwis. The process was very straightforward. First off, a consultation with a nurse to check the iron in our blood with a finger prick, and then it was time to sit back on the chairs and donate blood. After donating, the volunteers offered us some biscuits, chocolate and juice to boost our energy levels before we headed back up to school. It was such an easy task to complete and knowing that you were helping people made it even better.
