Sports Day 2020

Dana Ballantyne and Sophie Miller, Sports Prefects —

Otago Girls' Sports Day took place on Friday 14 February at the Caledonian.

The day began at 8:30 am as girls excitedly lined up in their houses with house themes consisting of Allan’s Apprentices, Ethel’s Emergency (Benjamin house), Cruickshank's Cupids and William's Waterworld. The array of creative costumes on show was absolutely incredible, and despite the weather being no more than 13 degrees the excitement for the competition to come was heard loud and clear during the march past which kicked the day off. Congratulations to Williams for taking out the win in the march past!

There was fierce competition throughout all the events as well as records being broken by some of our amazing athletes. Participation was brilliant and we saw girls from Year 9 to Year 13 getting super involved in activities and having a really enjoyable time. Lunchtime sausages and burgers were provided by the Wairua Puhou girls which went down a treat. The Prefects managed to hold on to their title and come out victorious in the Prefect vs Staff relay, and the House Relays provided entertaining and intense viewing. Overall the day had a great atmosphere and staff and students all really enjoyed themselves. A massive thank you to everyone for another successful sports day.

A huge congratulations to the girls that broke records throughout the day.

Overall house results:

1st - Allan

2nd - Williams

3rd - Benjamin
