Recently three OGHS junior volleyball teams attended the South Island Secondary Schools' Volleyball tournament in Christchurch. 

The 10 A team would like to thank Mr Simon Maole for coaching them in Mr Murley's absence. They won the Division 2 Final. The 9A team, coached by Mr Pickard, acquitted themselves well and finished 5th in their section. The 9B team coached by Mrs Mackay gained valuable experience. Eight OGHS players were identified for further training and consideration for an Under 16 South Island team. 

The OGHS 9B  were competitive and enjoyed some close games but did not manage to secure a win. They were always supportive of each other and developed their skills throughout the tournament with the goal of setting up for a spike and not just returning the ball over the net. The team would like to thanks Ms Hokianga for feeding them and being Camp Mother.
