On the first weekend of the holidays, 1- 2 October, Omea Fitzgerald played for the Otago region at the National Handball Tournament in Christchurch. Omea's team played against teams representing Canterbury, Wellington and the Auckland regions. Omea scored a few goals to help her side in the tournament that was ultimately won by Canterbury.
