Lucy Merriman and Pippa Sparrow - Otago Aero Club

Over the past nine weeks, Pippa and I have been attending an aviation course based out at the Taieri Aero Club. We have had three sessions of flying which is going towards our PPL (private pilots license). We have also been out to different places in Dunedin to learn more about a career in Aviation. We have been to Dunedin Airport and had a look in the control tower and talked to the Air Traffic Controller about what the job involved and how you could get into the industry. We also had a look at the rescue at the Airport and what their jobs involve. We have also been to HeliOtago and had a look at the helicopter side of the industry and what it could lead to. This course has shown us all the possible pathways within the aviation industry. There was a small group in this program with myself, Pippa and another student from KVC.
