Acting Principal's Report

Ms R. Taigel , Acting Principal —

Welcome to the conclusion of a very busy week at school.

Firstly, a huge congratulations must go out to all the recipients of awards and Blues at our school Sports Awards evening held on Tuesday night. The dedication, commitment, perseverance and positivity demonstrated by all these students towards their sports, coaches, managers, and teammates was hugely impressive. Black Fern Kilisitina Moata'ane, was the guest speaker for the evening, and shared her journey of determination in the face of set-backs with the girls, and I know her messages resonated with them.

Along these lines, it is important to congratulate Madison Wills, who set a new Otago record for the Female 15 Years SC 100m breaststroke on the weekend; a huge achievement.

Well done to all the senior students who have now completed their parallel examinations. A lot of time and effort has gone into preparing for these, including support from home, and we thank the girls, and their teachers, for their focus and determination in working towards these.

There are a number of trips and activities happening this week and next, including the Spanish trip to Argentina, which left on Thursday, the Year 11 Outdoor Ed overnight tramp, and Year 10 self defence courses starting. We have also begun our Celebration Service singing practices in preparation for our evening event on 30 October next term.

If you get the opportunity, I recommend you come in to school and take a tour around the Anne Frank exhibition which will be showcased in our school hall from Tuesday 24th September, and right through the school holidays, including Week 1 of Term 4 (9-4.30 weekdays, 10-2pm weekends). A number of our students are being trained as guides this Friday for this purpose and would love to see you there.
