Armstrong’s Outward Bound Scholarship 2022

Ms M Young , Outward Bound Coordinator —

We are very excited to announce the two recipients of the inaugural Armstrong’s Outward Bound Scholarship for 2022. Congratulations to Hannah Forbes and Beth O’Connor, both in Year Twelve. Hannah and Beth will be participating in the Mind Body Soul course during 2023.

The Armstrong’s Outward Bound Scholarship is fully funded for the course cost of $5795. Each year, there will be two scholarship available for Year Twelve students. These opportunities are made possible through the generosity of Armstrong’s Motor Group, Dunedin.

Outward Bound provides opportunities to grow the participant's personal development. The Mind Body Soul course focuses on helping young people build their independence and leadership qualities to make the most of their final school years, and take on the new challenges lying ahead with confidence and self belief.

The key outcomes include:

  •  Greater self belief and acknowledgement of own capabilities

  •  Better social skills and friendships

  •  More confidence in group situations and better communication skills

  • Positive mindset to take on new challenges

  •  Increased resilience and determination

  • A calmer attitude and approach when under pressure

  • Appreciation of diversity and the value of others around you

  • A better ability to deal with change

We are confident that Hannah and Beth will make the most of their opportunities while at Outward Bound, and will overcome the challenges presented to them. We look forward to reading about their personal experiences in future newsletters.

Our appreciation and gratitude to Armstrong’s Motor Group for supporting our students’ development and growth by creating these opportunities.
