House Garden Competition

Hetty Finney-Waters —

Recently this year's Otago Girls’ House Garden Competition came to a close with a final judging event.

The four gardens have been developed, nurtured and cultivated by a few passionate and green-thumbed students from each house as well as receiving support from the Enviroschools group.

At the closing event, we were lucky enough to have two brilliant guest judges from Bunnings Warehouse come over to adjudicate as well as the amazing Ms Babbage. After considering the style of the gardens, the existing amount of greenery and the crops each garden had the potential to bear, the judges placed the Cruickshank garden in first place with Allan  second, Williams  third and Benjamin fourth.

Overall the entire competition was one from which the school shall certainly reap many benefits in the most literal way as not only was it a great horticultural experience but has provided plenty of fresh produce that looks undoubtedly delicious.
