Junior Sports Week

Aarti Singh and Mr D. Trickey —

Junior Sports week was Monday 18 to Friday 22 November, and during the week students took part in 3x3 basketball, dodgeball, touch, volleyball, cricket and Ki O Rahi.

We had three teams competing in touch and this was a great opportunity for the teams to develop their skills along with having a fun day out. Results were varied and the Year 10 team came out with a win in their grade at the end of the day. Volleyball used this tournament to further develop for their upcoming trip to Christchurch for SISS Junior Volleyball Championships. Our cricket girls enjoyed playing indoor cricket at the Metro indoor cricket centre.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching the girls last game and wow are they good! Kī O Rahi (a traditional Maori game incorporating skills similar to rugby union, netball and touch) was a new sport introduced this year and we thought we would like to have a go at this. Unfortunately the trip to Lawrence was cancelled and instead the teams played in the Edgar Centre - this was a learn as you go experience for our team.

See reports on the basketball and dodgeball attached.
