Homestay Families

Mrs B Davidson, Tumuaki~Principal —

Many thanks for the wonderful response to our last request for homestay families. We were overwhelmed by the response.

We are still looking for around 10 more Homestay families and this could mean the difference between our short and long term international students being able to come to our wonderful school or not. Please consider whether you have capacity in a spare room to host a short or long term student in your home. This is a good income stream and also a great building of global connections. Homestay families are paid a considerable amount weekly to host students. We will host twenty students from Yasuda High School in Japan in early August and also require longer term homestays.

Families do not need to have host sisters at our school. An aunt, grandparent, single friend or young family anywhere in Dunedin can host students and most students are busy and out and about - or doing school work - a lot of the time. It is all about having a genuine kiwi experience in a New Zealand home. Many families maintain these friendships and end up travelling to their student’s home country in the longer term, with overseas families reciprocating the care their children received here. Please contact Alison Stephenson, our International Student Manager, in the first instance: sn@otagogirls.school.nz We would be delighted to hear from you and to answer your questions.
