YEAR 10-13 Student Learning Conferences

Ms K. Dick, Assistant Principal —

9 March

On Tuesday the 9 March Student Learning Conferences will take place for all Year 10 to 13 students in an effort to enable students to take responsibility for their own learning and to deepen the conversations that students, parents, and teachers have around student learning.

Year 9 students will take part in a Wellbeing Day with some fun and supportive activities while the conferences are taking place. Year 10 to 13 students will only be required to attend for their 30 minute conference that day but are welcome to study or work on assessments in the Library, Study Centre or computer suites during the rest of the day. You will receive a letter confirming your appointment time soon.

It is an expectation that parents and/or significant members of the student’s whanau will attend these conferences with the student. The importance of attending these meetings is such that we have provided a letter for parents’ employers should there be a need to get time off work to attend the conference. Research shows that home-school partnerships focused on the importance of doing well at school have the greatest positive outcomes for the student.

Later in the year, we will run subject-based interviews as last year for all Year 9-13 students, to enable you to catch up with your daughter’s subject teachers and ask subject-specific questions. It is also possible to email any of your child’s teachers, or to request to meet with them, at any time during the year. Further Student Learning Conferences will take place in August.

We look forward to meeting with you and your daughter on the 9 March.
