Introducing our Māori Prefect

Jade Wilson, Māori Prefect —

Jade Wilson

Kia ora koutou,

Ko Jade Wilson tōku ingoa, ko au tō koutou tuakana matua Māori.

I am truly honoured to be serving as your Māori Prefect for 2025. As we journey together this year, I am excited to support and represent our Māori students and whānau, while also sharing and celebrating our culture with the wider school community. My goal is to ensure Māori voices are heard, valued, and respected, and that we continue to foster a deeper understanding of Te Ao Māori within the school.

A few fun facts about myself; I was born in Montreal, Canada, and I have a rich love for learning, finding great value in academic pursuits. When I’m not in the middle of a good read or sketching out ideas in art class, you’ll find me racing on the athletics track (probably trying to pretend that I’m not dying before the finish line).

I strive to be a positive role model and be present within my school, and I look forward to getting to know new faces in Wairua Pūhou. I encourage everyone to embrace the opportunities to learn about Te Reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and our rich history—whether through participating in cultural events or simply engaging in small conversations. Let's work together to create an environment where everyone feels proud of who they are and where they come from. I have so many big ideas and I hope I see you at the next kapa haka practice!

Ngā mihi nui
