Legally Blonde Lights Up the Stage: A Season to Remember!

Mrs B Davidson, Tumuaki~Principal —

Last week, our students and staff involved in the 2024 Production of 'Legally Blonde' had a fantastic season of their show. The 47 students involved onstage performed to an almost sold out season, with full houses on both Friday and Saturday nights. Special note must go to the absolutely stunning performance by Samantha McCormick, who tackled the intensely tricky role of Elle in a way that could only be expected of a professional. Highlights also included Maisie Kirk as the hairstylist, Paulette, Maya Satake as the enemy-turned-ally Vivienne and Immy Morey as exercise-queen Brooke Wyndham, with a special mention to Melitiana White as Enid, and Meg Allison, Brooke Beaman, and Mariah Taungapeau as the fantastic Delta Nus. These performers, as well as our amazing ensemble, were supported by the dedicated and hard-working backstage team. This was made up of eight students, with special mention to Eila Currie-Quinn who seamlessly handled the lighting and track desk throughout the season.

In her directorial debut, Miss Danielle Veenvliet did an outstanding job, alongside a creative team of Ms Charlotte Hayward as Production Manager, and Anna Langford as Vocal Director, and Stephanie Moraes-Madsen, ex-girl and ex-teacher, as the Choreographer. This was a massive project that couldn't possibly have gone ahead without the help of the staff members who gave up their time to put it on including, Ms Bronwyn Thomson, Mrs Cheree Henderson, Ms Tracy Munro, Ms Cat Robson, Miss Hayley Flett, Mrs Kirsten Parkinson, Mr Simon Pickard, Mr Kahurangi Cassidy, Mr Eugene Shields, and from Otago Boys', Mrs Anne Gorman.
