OGHS visits the Beverley Begg Observatory

Mrs C Beaman, Science —

What a wonderful night! The sky was clear and we were welcomed by our hosts to observe our night sky in perfect view at the Beverley Begg Observatory. We almost saw an asteroid between Jupiter and Mars travel in front of a star through the main telescope. Once we were outside we observed our southern constellations and viewed a super cluster of stars. We also saw Alpha Centauri including Proxima Centauri, our closest neighbours. Two red giant stars were visible through the telescope and it is always amazing to view our moon with its many craters. A huge thank you goes to our hosts Ashley and CJ!
