Waterpolo

Mrs N. Chapman, TIC Waterpolo —

We have had a fun and successful year with Waterpolo.

Our beloved sport is going from strength to strength. The year ended on a real high, as the juniors topped their section, beating St Hilda’s 9-3, and that was with no subs at all! In the first term, we had three teams from a wide range of girls, which was wonderful! Also, in the first term, the senior girls (with quite a few junior players!) went to Christchurch and did extremely well. The seniors continued to play well for the rest, even giving more than one boys’ team a good run for their money! Many thanks to Rhys Heatley and Kelsey Evans, whose expert and enthusiastic coaching has been hugely appreciated. Many thanks to the PPTA and parents too, for their support both financial and practical, for the girls. Getting to those early morning sessions is not always easy! And, as always but no less appreciative, thanks too to Ms Hokianga who has worked so hard behind the scenes, especially to organise tournaments away. (From Mrs Chapman, waterpolo manager)

Otago Girls' Waterpolo has had an amazing season, with great results and lots of fun. I would like to thank the juniors coach, Kelsey, for providing us girls with a great experience and being very entertaining. We definitely improved over the term and during each training others and I have learnt a lot. So thank you very much and I am looking forward to next year. Also a big thanks to Mrs Hokianga for organising our tournaments and the PPTA for funding our tournaments for the season. Mrs Chapman deserves a big thanks as well, she has organised our whole season, teams, fundraising, tournaments and she has been at every game to support and manage us. A a very big thanks to you! (From Meg Sayers of the Junior team.)
