Go Poppy!

Mrs K Boomer, International Student Prefect —

After the thrill and exhilaration of going up, down, and around in the school cross country run, Mrs Cole and I took Poppy in the Surf to Stadium 10 km run on Sunday 15 August. Poppy loves passing people and speed, and she shrieks with joy when going up and down the hills. There weren't as many hills, tree roots and steps in the Surf to Stadium but there was plenty of joy before the start of this event, starting with the mass warm-up at Kettle Park, and ending with doing a lap around the turf of Forsyth Barr Stadium. It was a most glorious day to be outdoors and it was wonderful seeing so many people enjoying themselves while completing a challenge. We got to see a bit of Dunedin as we ran across Kettle Park, down Victoria Rd, up Norman Street,  and by the harbour. After a quick drink of water by the harbour molars, we went through the industrial area, then into the expanse of Forsyth Barr Stadium. This delighted Poppy as we made our way around the outside of the turf, then to see her family at the finish line. Poppy received lots of cheers from other participants and people along the course. This day brought out the pure joy of running and being active outside. We are looking forward to our next event. Go Poppy!!!
