Senior O’Mathalon Competition

Jennifer Sutherland – Year 13 —

On Thursday night, Logan Park High School hosted the much-anticipated Senior O'Mathalon, and Otago Girls’ High School proudly entered four teams into the competition. The evening was a lively celebration of mathematics, featuring a wide array of challenging questions and numerous spot prizes, including awards for random trivia and the best team name.

One of our Otago Girls’ teams, aptly named "The Pink Ladies," stole the spotlight by winning the award for the best team name. Their "Mathletes" jackets, inspired by the movie Mean Girls, were a hit and have already set the stage for next year’s dress-up theme.

But the O'Mathalon was about more than just competition; it was a night to bond with friends and test problem-solving skills in a supportive and fun environment. You don’t need to be a math whiz to enjoy the event—in fact, having a mix of skill levels makes it even more enjoyable. It’s all about working together, supporting one another, and proving that there are no limits to what can be achieved as a team.
