Otago Girls’ High School offers scholarship opportunities to highly motivated learners with abilities across many areas of life. These areas include Academic, Leadership, Sport and Cultural contributions and talents. To be considered for these prestigious and sought-after scholarships, applicants must be willing to contribute and participate fully in the life of Otago Girls’ High School, upholding our school values and fully embracing the life of the school. These wonderful opportunities are for ākonga entering Year 9 in 2024.

Eight Excellence Entrance Scholarships (awarded by application from Year 8) are available in any combination of Academic, Leadership, Sport and Cultural fields. Successful applicants receive:
• $600
• $100 NZ Uniforms credit
• ‘Striving for Success’ High Performance coaching and mentorship
• Targeted enrichment opportunities and priority access to Writers Camp, Global Leadership Programme and Mathematics and Science Enrichment programmes
• ‘Give Back’ Service and Leadership programme
Applications will open Monday 1 May.
Applications close 4pm Tuesday 10th August 2023.

Criteria for Scholarship
Students must demonstrate a high level of achievement and participation in two or more of our four identified areas:
• Academic
• Leadership
• Sport
• Cultural
Evidence to include in application could include, but is not limited to, the following:
Academic – demonstrates an outstanding level of academic performance including external competitions, results, achievements, school reports including latest report
Leadership – demonstrates proven leadership experience or potential including achievements, projects completed under leadership, leadership roles, global leadership
Sport – demonstrates sporting achievement at the highest level including range of sports played, representative teams, results, individual achievements
Cultural – demonstrates cultural performance at the highest level including grades and placings for performance and examinations, range and experience including Music, Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Public Speaking
Mid-year Success Scholarships are awarded on merits relating to the above and are not by application.
Applicants for the Excellence Entrance Scholarships must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents and currently in Year 8 to be eligible. Applications for Excellence Entrance Scholarships must be accompanied by a completed official application form and should be returned to Sue Watt, Enrolments Manager, by 4pm on Tuesday 10th August 2023. They can be emailed to sw@otagogirls.school.nz. No late applications can be accepted.
