During the weekend of 31 March -2 April, 13 girls competed in the South Island Athletics Championships held at the Caledonian Ground in Dunedin.

The past fortnight has been filled with summer sports, outdoor education and assessment with students and teachers looking forward to a well-deserved rest after a very busy term.

Social media can be a fantastic way for young people to meet friends, connect with people, support their peers with learning, communicate with others around the world about current events and issues, and chat to their idols and role-models in sports, the arts etc.

Each case of online bullying is different and each child will respond differently to bullying. There’s no fool-proof way to tell if your child is being bullied online, but if you think they might be, try asking them about it in a non-confrontational way.

Year 9 and 10 students are receiving Interim Reports for Term One on Tuesday 11 April. 

We are holding our annual Golf day Fundraiser on Sunday 7 May. This is a fun day and in the past has been enjoyed by all involved. 

We are now coming to the end of Term One, which see the finishing up of all summer sports. 

One Saturday every month a small number of Dunedin high school students come together at the University of Otago for the Healthy Harbour Watcher programme. 

From Sunday to Wednesday last week, our Senior A Water-Polo team competed at the South Islands Secondary Schools' Waterpolo Tournament in Christchurch.

The year 11A Volleyball team attended the Volleyball New Zealand Satellite tournament in Christchurch last week.

On Tuesday 28 March the OGHS Sevens team set off to Timaru for a two day South Island Tournament. The girls section included schools from all areas of the South Island, from Motueka down to Southland.

On Friday 31 March OGHS hosted games in the school with international and Kiwi students from the Dunedin high schools.

On the 26 March the OGHS Senior Sirens flew off to Palmerston North to compete in the 49th Secondary Schools'  Volleyball Nationals where 170 girls and boys teams were competing.

Students in Physical Education have been busy this term doing a range of activities that have been enhancing student’s attitudes and values, developing interpersonal skills and learning new techniques of a variety of sports.

Last week Jess Lim and Deanna Luskie took part in the Chinese Bridge Speech Competition at Tahuna and were awarded Second place and Distinction awards respectively.
