Hayley Flett

Kia ora, my name is Hayley Flett and I am the new textiles teacher at Otago Girls’ High School. I have completed two degrees since finishing high school in 2017. I completed my Bachelor of Design (Fashion) in 2021, before completing my Masters in Teaching and Learning (with Distinction) in 2023. In between these degrees, I worked as a sewing machinist across 2 different job opportunities, so I have had some industry experience in the fashion industry. I am super keen and enthusiastic about everything textiles/fashion and I am so excited to pass my skills and knowledge onto the next generation here at Otago Girls’ High School.

I come from a family of teachers. My mum is an early childhood teacher and my older sister is a primary school teacher, both down in Invercargill. I am a keen sports person with my main sport being squash. My whole family plays this amazing sport and I have played my whole life. I have represented 3 different districts at a local and national level. I also coached a netball team here at OGHS in 2023, and I am looking forward to coaching again in 2024. I am excited to get to know all of my students, help them reach their highest potential and achieve personal excellence.
