Curling
Rachael Pitts, Year 12 — October 17, 2019
From the 4 to 6 October, the OGHS Curling team competed in the National tournament held in Naseby.
After coming second at the South islands we were anxiously waiting to see the competition once again. We started the tournament playing against the Kavanagh team and ended up with a 6 to 3 win. Then a tight loss against St Hilda’s, going down by one due to an amazing draw played by the oppositions skip. Then on Saturday we played a tough game against Maniototo which resulted in a 8 to 7 loss. We managed to keep our next game against St Hilda's very low-scoring, but couldn’t quite pull off the win, losing 4 to 2. After the double round robin our final placing was 4th, and although we hoped for better, we kept each game close and didn't make any of the wins for the other teams easy. We congratulate the Kavanagh girls on their three-peat national title.
