Skiing:

On Tuesday, the 12th of September, our class went to Mt Hutt for our third William Pike Challenge. We all had to have a two-hour lesson with an instructor according to our ability. It was very tiring but everyone enjoyed it. Also, a big thank you to all the parents who helped transport and helped on the mountain. Also, a big thank you to Mt Hutt for letting us come and for helping us out when we needed it. We had such a good time and we were so pleased that the weather held out.

Koru Games:

On Tuesday, 19 September, a mixed netball team is going to the Koru Games. The team comprises Sienna Kiesanowski, Lucas Bourke, Willow Cahill, Tyler Williams, Olivia Haigh, Mischa Thelin, Kaitlyn Schumacher, Madison Taylor, Bradley Clifford and Charlotte Summers. They are all very happy to be in the team. The Koru Games will go on for three days and will be a great team-building event for us. We wish everyone all the best. A massive thank you to Jo Haigh for coming in and coaching the team and Jo Thelin for managing the team.

Podcast:

On Friday, 15 September, a group of students, including myself, travelled to Rangiora to write our podcast script. The workshop was held at the Rangiora Town hall upstairs in the interview room! We started the day with Pia, and talked about what sort of music and radio we listened to, as well as what might inspire our own radio show.

Our group was made up of Sam, Willow, Alex, Penelope, Sienna.T and Isabella. Each person got their role! Isabella was team number one, with the help of Sam. They introduced the show and were the main presenters. The day lasted 6 hours, and we learnt so much about producing and writing!

The next Tuesday, we went to the ‘Waves FM studio’ to record our podcast, which will air in the next few weeks on FM radio! We are so grateful for everyone who helped out with transport, and a thank you to the radio studios for making this possible.

Garden Tour:

Kārearea started selling Garden Tour tickets last week. Some of us managed to sell quite a few tickets for parents and children to come and buy some plants and food. The Garden Tour starts at 10:00 a.m and ends at 4:00 p.m. The garden tour is on Saturday, 26 November. Each ticket costs $30. Everyone will love the day.

Toy Chest:

Mackenzie Thorpe and Sienna Kiesanowski have been making a toy chest for Swannanoa Preschool. We have really enjoyed making this and were wondering if anyone had any toys that they would be willing to donate. Please bring to Ōhoka School in Room 7 (Mr Foskett’s class). All donations will be very appreciated thank you.
