Te Pōkai Korimako

Glentui Camp was a huge success. Our students bonded as a team and they had amazing opportunities to challenge themselves in the outdoors.

The first day we arrived at camp, we were straight into the activities. Bubble soccer was a real hit and we all enjoyed feeling like giant Sumo wrestlers for a few minutes.

The pool was extremely popular too, though a little cool on Day 1, but no-one was worried.

Bivvy building allowed our creative juices to flow and we tried out some interesting knots and strategies for protecting ourselves from the rain and wind in the bush.

A major highlight was the waterfall jump which some students went back to time and time again. The dip into the icy water was refreshing, to say the least but most of our students took the plunge at some stage during the camp. There was also a natural water slide that we all enjoyed as well.

On the second day, the orienteering course provided us with another challenge, hunting for clues, reading maps and racing around the camp searching for markers.

The team building activities were a good opportunity to work together to solve a problem like finding a secret path through the swamp or walking in unison on an overly large pair of skis - all great fun!

We finished off the camp with a few rounds of archery tag which was a lot of fun and brought out our competitive sides.

Our camp parents - Rachael, Nic, Ben, Lincoln, and Mark were amazing and we can't thank them enough for giving up their time to be with us on camp.

Come along to our assembly this Friday to see some more photos and hear some of our stories.
