Congratulations to our Year 8 students for winning the BOP Kids LitQuiz Competition.

Danika, Bella, Seth and Gem (Year 8 students) won the BOP Kids LitQuiz and have qualified to compete at the Nationals in Wellington.

The team's impressive performance and knowledge of literature truly stood out, and it is inspiring to see their dedication and hard work pay off in such a spectacular fashion. Their success in the competition is a testament to their teamwork, dedication, and intellectual prowess.

Their hard work and dedication have not only earned them a well-deserved victory, but it has also served as a source of inspiration to other Omokoroa No.1 Students to aspire to improve their literature skills.

This is a HUGE achievement and it is the first time any students from Omokoroa No.1 School have won the competition and qualified for the nationals.

They won $1000 to put towards travel to Wellington but they need another $3000 to get there and back. Our school will provide financial support to help get them to Wellington so that they don’t miss this amazing opportunity to travel to and compete in Wellington. We would also love all students to show their support for our LitQuiz Team by working towards completing a '7 Day SuperHero Reading Challenge' that will add extra motivation and energy for the team. This will involve each student completing extra at home reading and small family donations would be appreciated if their child/ren can complete the challenge. All money received goes directly to the LitQuiz team's expenses in Wellington. Reading tracking forms and more details for the challenge will be sent home next week.

Reading Marathon

Our LitQuiz Team will be increasing their ‘Reading Kilometres’ by a significant amount over the next 4 weeks to best prepare for the National LitQuiz. They will also be completing a ‘Reading Marathon’ requiring them to read out loud to students/themselves continuously from 7am – 3pm. The LitQuiz team will work in pairs and read for a total of 4 hours each during the day. This will be livestreamed. Each LitQuiz Team member will be asking for sponsors.
