Principals Message

Craig Pentecost —

It is fantastic to have Term 2 underway!

Dear parents / caregivers,

The mornings may be colder but classroom learning programmes are keeping everyone on their toes and warm.

Our new jackets have been delayed in leaving China but most have now arrived in Hamilton and are on their way to us.

This year we have record numbers of students playing winter sports. This has put our Dome in HOT demand during school time for training. Special thanks to all of the parents that are coaching and managing sports teams this winter.

Our major school sports event this term is Cross Country. Please check the school calendar for when the Team events are being held.

Our amazing caretaker, Shayne Hall, is doing a fantastic job for Omokoroa No.1 School. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated, skilled and friendly caretaker. This week marks his 1 year anniversary working with us.

Thank you in advance for supporting our educators by making alternative arrangements for your children this Wednesday morning to allow our teachers to attend their NZEI Union meeting. The school will be open for instruction from 11.30am.

Welcome to the new families that have joined our Learning Community this term  with new students Emily Hook in Rm 6, Riley Antonopoulos in Rm 1 and Thomas Hansen in Rm 7 who started at the end of term 1. Welcome also to our three 3rd year student teachers from Tauranga/Waikato University: Jazz Bell in Rm 9, Stevie Courtney in Rm 8 and Jordi Langton in Rm 5.

Thank you to the parents that were able to attend the 'Movie Night' last week. I have heard very positive feedback from staff and parents. I am looking forward to the 'Hoedown' at the Omokoroa Settlers Hall next Saturday. Tickets are now on sale from the office.

Nga mihi nui,

Craig Pentecost
