STUDENT WRITING FROM CAMP

Air Rifles

I was in the line waiting for my turn and Mr Walls was explaining the position to hold it and then he squeezed the trigger. “Bang” he shot the target. It was my turn now. I was scared. I asked him to help me, so he did. I snapped it and put the bullet in the air rifle and then I hit the target. I loaded the rifle again and Bang! I heard the sound of metal hitting wood. I missed the target but I still have one bullet left. I was the last person left and everyone was looking at me so I loaded the rifle and took my shot and I hit the target. Yay!

Surfing

I was so scared but I did it and it was an amazing feeling. I felt like I was flying, but on a board and in the sea. I fell a few times but got back up, until I finally did it. I STOOD!! I caught many, many waves. I even carried on from waist deep all the way to ankle deep. My heart was pounding but not because I was scared because I caught so many waves in one go! I would love to do it again.

BMX

"3,2,1 and go!" Mr Hume was timing me to go round the BMX track. I went around the first corner, then I went over a little hill and I decided to do a jump but I curved the handle bar when I was in the air. I almost came off the track when I landed!

Then came the other two jumps. On the first one I decided to just drive over it, but for the second one I carefully kept the handle bars straight. It was a nice smooth jump. I think I did that in about 1 min 6 seconds. It was fun but my favourite activity at camp was surfing.
