Principal's Message

Omokoroa No.1 School —

Important information and updates from our principal.

Kia ora koutou,

Excitement is building for our Year 3-8 Triathlon on Wednesday. The students have been training hard and are ready to go. If you are dropping off bikes please drive in from Plummers Point Road gate and put bike and helmets in the transition area. First race starts from 10.30am. Parents are welcome to attend.

Unfortunately for us our wonderful Ange Batt has resigned as she has been offered an exciting new job and her last day with be the last day of this term. Ange has worked in our admin team for the past 6 years and has been instrumental in driving our fundraising and Mower Days since 2014. Ange has been an amazing member of our staff and learning community and I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Thank you to the parents that donated Easter eggs for our raffle. Tickets are on sale from outside the office before and after school. $1 each and drawn on the last day of term.

Congratulations to Carlos Kenny, Archie Kenny, and Gareth Willats for competing in the WBOP Primary Schools Golf Tournament last week. All boys played well on a tough course and Gareth had the best round finishing in 5th overall.

Throughout the term I have been impressed with the way our students and staff have meet the daily challenges due to Covid and making the most of the opportunities that we were able to do. Hopefully from the beginning of Term 2 things will start to feel like 'the good old days' and we can have a fantastic term of learning, sports, and fun.

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday break with your families and I look forward to the start of Term 2.

Nga mihi nui,

Craig Pentecost
