Omokoroa No.1 School —

The four junior classes have enjoyed recently learning about ‘Bridges and the Tauranga Waterfront’. The classes travelled by bus, van or car into the city, and studied various areas of the city, including comparing the newer Harbour Bridge with the old Railway Bridge.

The children loved exploring from the waka to the rose gardens, the mission cemetery and going under the bridge structure, before walking under the Trinity Wharf Hotel and along the waterfront to the Hairy Maclary playground. The sausage and chip lunch was appreciated, before going on the next long walk over the railway bridge. This was where we were treated to refreshing ice-blocks. It was then time to head back across the bridge, to catch the bus and return to school. It was a huge day, full of adventure and learning. Thank you to all our parent helpers.

This Friday, we are looking forward to trying the ice-skating experience. This will be an exciting time.

Kind regards John, Sue, Jane, Sharon, Becks, Cushla, Jenna and Andrea.
