Omokoroa No.1 School —

Wild About NZ has had another great year exploring nature in our backyards with a select group of Year 5-6s. Term 1 we studied stream health by going to our local streams and checking out what lived there. Term 2 we looked at pests and how to control them with teams putting traps around the school to monitor. Lochie Ensor and Tyson Davies caught over 10 rats at the school, Ka Pai! Term 3 we put our eyes to the sky to find out more about NZs native birds. We broke a record of most species spotted with Paul Cumming at Plummers Point Reserve. Finally in Term 4 we learned more about the Native trees, insects, Godwits and Eels. It's been such a great year and Stacey looks forward to exploring with a new group next year.
