On Thursday the 19th of September the New Zealand Playhouse Company made their annual visit to our school to perform their current playhouse drama: ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’.

 All the children knew this fable but it wasn’t long before the twists and turns of the story included other characters, such as ‘The Pied Piper’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man’ With clever script writing the young children’s characters entertained all the age groups, from the new entrants through to the teachers. The actors were amazingly versatile, showing ability in speech, acting, singing and dance. 

It was wonderful for the kids to experience such a high standard of live entertainment and at a fraction of the cost of a movie ticket too! We are already looking forward to next year’s presentation which is titled ‘Chilled’ and written with the help of an Antarctic Scientist.
