Egg and Yoghurt Ban at School

Omokoroa No.1 School —

We have a student with a severe anaphylactic reaction to eggs, yoghurt and bee stings.

Just a reminder that eggs and yoghurt are banned at school.

We have a student who has severe anaphylactic reaction to eggs, yoghurt, and bee stings.

We have had 3 reactions and 2 ambulances called to school due to anaphylactic episodes.

She can go into anaphylactic shock by ingesting or touching egg or yoghurt. We have a comprehensive care plan to ensure we keep her safe and ensure we minimise the risk. Part of this care plan requires us to ban students bringing egg and yoghurt to school. Products with traces of egg (cake, bars, bread) are still able to be eaten by students as the risk of allergic reaction to her are not as severe.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to families but I'm sure you will all agree that student safety is paramount in this situation.

Thank you for your support to ensure this amazing young girl is kept safe and healthy while at Omokoroa No.1 School.
