We showed the world how big our Omokoroa No.1 School heart is with this image. It has been our most popular Facebook post with 5700 people reached. 'WE ARE ONE'.
With the Juniors and Jiddles all away on camp experiences this week it has been a lot quieter around school. I was very fortunate to visit the camps and see all students, teachers, and parents really enjoying their experiences.
There has been a lot of swimming action this term with such great weather. Congratulations to all of the students that have represented our school at the Western Bay of Plenty Swimming Championships. Our pool will be open for the next two weeks and will close from the 12th April to all key holders. Special thanks to all pool users over the summer.
Our school continues to be governed by a highly effective BoT. Our Election date is Friday 7th June. Our Returning Officer will call for formal parent nominations in May.
Parent / Teacher Interviews are being held next Tuesday and Thursday. To allow interviews to start from 2pm we would appreciate all students being collected at 1.30pm on Thursday 11th April.
During this term we have started a couple of new exciting new initiatives. The Maths Whizz programme is getting very positive feedback and the staff are all using a new 'Spotlight' feature of our student management system which will allow teachers to plan, monitor student progress, and give feedback to students in relation to their Learning Intentions. Next term our senior students will be taught how to use the 'Spotlight' feature to upload learning evidence and monitor their progress.
The new pool changing shed plans are underway and we are looking forward to completing the project over Term 2/3.
