Principal's Message

Omokoroa No.1 School —

Important information and updates from our Principal.

Kia ora koutou,

We have reached the last two weeks of the school year. It definitely feels like a sprint to the finish line with so many exciting events happening across the school.

Today it was lovely to welcome back our local schools to join all of our Year 1-3 for our Tabloid Athletics. Thank you to Mr Barthow and our teachers for all of the work to lead the event and lots of parents for running the event stations.

With the weather finally starting to warm up our pool is in demand. Last week it was fantastic to see students enjoying the ‘Have a Go’ kayaking sessions held by Canoe Slalom NZ. Pool keys are still available to hire for our school families from the school office.

The end of year prize giving is on Tuesday 13th December, from 1pm. All parents are welcome to attend. If you can attend you are also welcome to come in and have lunch with your child or stay on after the prize giving. We will also be live streaming the event. Students are welcome to wear Christmas hats / clothing at the prize giving.

This Saturday we have a community and staff farewell for Mr Barthow. It will be a wonderful way to formally farewell John while we reflect on his fantastic career in education. A light lunch will be provided from 12.30pm. There is a student farewell assembly on Monday 12th December.

Student End of Year Achievement reports and 2023 Class Placements will be sent home on Tuesday 13th December.

Special thanks to all of the parents that were able to attend the Year 8 Camp last week. The students got a little bit wet but have made memories that will last a lifetime.

I hope all of our families have a wonderful Christmas and New Years during the summer break.

Nga mihi nui,

Craig Pentecost
