Learning about Zero Waste.
The Jiddles have been learning about the huge amount of unnecessary rubbish we kiwis dispose of each year. We have learned that a lot of this rubbish is made from natural resources such as wood, metal, silica and oil. A lot of our rubbish can be recycled instead of being sent to the landfill. We explored how to make better choices so that we don’t actually end up with the rubbish to dispose of in the first place. Examples of this are buying a large bag of potato chips and bringing a handful to school in a container instead of buying lots of small packets, or using a facecloth instead of lots of face wipes. We made ourselves a toy out of some of the rubbish we had at home. It was a lot of fun and we got to play with each others toys.
Thanks to Vicki Semmens fro “Zero Waste” for teaching
us how we can help our environment.
