School Sores / Impetigo : (you say, im-pa-ty-go)
We have had a couple of cases at school. Please see information below for what to look out for and how to treat.
Is a common skin infection caused by bacteria. The infection causes blisters on exposed parts of body, such as hands and face, especially around the nose and mouth. The blisters burst and turn into a sore with a yellow crust.
Keep your child home from school until at least 1 day after the treatment starts. you will need to get cream and or antibiotics from the Doctor. Make sure the waterproof dressing completely covers the sores when returning to school.
School sores spread VERY easily between children by contact from weeping or crusted scabs or by a runny nose.
