Important information regarding absences.

The MoE have tightened up on unknown reasons for student absence and have advised schools that any unexplained absences need to be marked on our system as 'Truancy'.  Each absence requires a different code. The office will code the absences but so everyone understands the codes.

Please advise if your child is....

(M) Sick / Medical

(D) Appointment ( Dr / Dentist / Hospital)

(L) Late

(J) Justified explanation within school policy

eg Attending a Funeral

(E) Explained, but unjustified reason

eg Seeing Grandad off at the airport

(G) Holiday during term time

(T) Truant

If we do not hear from families by lunchtime we will have to mark (T) for Truant.

If your child is going to be away for more than 2 days please also contact the teachers directly as to the reason.

If there are personal reasons for your child missing school you can contact Craig Pentecost principal@omokoroa.school.nz who can alert staff as to the code to use.
