Omokoroa No.1 School —

Kia ora koutou,

Good luck to the Year 7 / 8 Students that are competing at the AIMS Games this week. Special thanks to all of the coaches that have put in a lot of time to prepare our students. I would also like to thank the companies that have sponsored teams. This is a National Sports event that has around 11,500 athletes, from over 300 schools, competing over the week across 23 sports.

Our Year 8 Skiers were very lucky to get a ‘Bluebird’ day on our first day of skiing. The day was topped off with a formal dinner at the Chateau. The second day we had snow showers but we still got time to practice our new skiing skills.

Following on from our Japanese school visit, Hibirigaoka, they have formally invited us to visit them in Japan. Our BoT is asking for parent feedback on if they are supportive of a biannual exchange for a small group of our Year 7/8 students to be part of a cultural exchange. Initially we will be sending out a google form to all current Year 5/6 parents.

As we near the end of the Term 3, I would like to thank all of our educators and support staff for the amazing work they do for our students everyday. I am fortunate to be able to see our students getting involved with learning programmes across the school and the ‘love for learning’ that students demonstrate is a pleasure to see.

Next Thursday we have the ‘New Zealand Playhouse’ performance group at school putting on a show for all Year 1-6 students. Our school has subsidised the performance but we would appreciate $3 per child to help cover costs.

Nga mihi nui,

Craig Pentecost
