Omokoroa No.1 School —

Teams for the EPro8 Challenge.

The EPro8 Challenge is an inter-school science engineering problem solving competition. Every year over 10,000 students from 800 schools throughout New Zealand take part. Teams were set a challenge to undertake at school, using a set of equipment sent for the students to use. Two teams from the Senior Syndicate spent a week designing and creating a large-scale robotic animal which had to have one moving feature that captured the essence of their chosen creature.

The Year 7 team 'The No.1 Tech Crew' (Jack van Aardt, Max Haden, Lizzie Maskell-Cunningham and Ivy Pritchard) created a robotic kiwi with a moving head.

The Year 8 team 'The No.1 Tech Warriors' (Nate Wadsworth, Leighton Simmons, Adam Lawrence and Wilson Gee) created a giant turtle with moving limbs.

Once finished, each team had to upload a report, team photo and a 1 minute video showing their solution and how it worked to their team's online portal.

The competition results will be released on Monday 21st.

Good luck to our two tech teams.

BREAKING NEWS!!

The results of the Epro8 2020 Challenge were announced this morning...

Congratulations to our Year 8 Team as they came first in the Bay of Plenty competition. Have a look at the winning design as it has been uploaded to the school's Facebook page. Also well done to our Year 7 Team for their 8th position. Two great designs were created and the judges noted that our teams paid attention to detail which helped with their placings.
