NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite results

Vicki Henderson —

If your child recently sat the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites, then the results are now available from NZQA. Congratulations to those students who have achieved one or more of these standards.

Each year, students have two opportunities to sit the Literacy and Numeracy Common Assessment Activities (CAAs) which are made up of three assessments - Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

Opihi College have done very well compared with national results, as shown in the following bar chart. Part of this is because of how seriously our students take these common assessment activities (CAAs) and also the extra work that went into preparing the students for them.

Opihi College Results

  • Reading = 69%

  • Writing = 75%

  • Numeracy = 56%

National Results

  • Reading = 65%

  • Writing = 52.5%

  • Numeracy = 40%

Your child can see their results by either looking on the portal (accessed via our website) or by logging into NZQA. If they missed out on achieving one or more of the standards, they will be able to download a personalised feedback report for each standard, which will show them the areas that they need to work on.

Next year, students will be able to achieve their literacy and numeracy requirements by:

  • sitting the CAAs again

  • achieving the required number of credits from an approved list of literacy and numeracy-rich standards
