Tumai and Wyatt finishing what was started in 2023 by Ferdinand Gerber
Ferdinand Gerber — April 29, 2024
The Year 12 class of 2023 embarked on the grass kart building journey. With very little prior experience they managed to apply a variety of skills to produce a good frame, steering assembly, back axle, pedals and other minor parts. Unfortunately, circumstances prevented them from seeing the project through to the end.
Luckily our 2024 boys, Wyatt, Tumai, Kahurangi and Owen were more than happy to step in and finish the job. They brought their mechanical experience to the workshop and managed to get the kart running in no time. The motor was mounted, exhaust fitted, cables connected and other adjustments made before taking it out for its first test. From then on it became their mission to make it better and faster: They changed the frame length, the steering, the motor mount, the cog sizes, produced mud guards and the list goes on.
Well done to everybody that was involved in some way to make this project a success. Keep an eye out for further developments as more karts and motorbikes are coming.
