Exciting News! A group of four Opihi Seniors have been accepted to attend Careers Week at the New Plymouth Tourism school in July.

Tyler Stevens, Milly Fenton, Jesiah Tinkler and Samantha McLellan are going to be winging their way to Taranaki in July to immerse themselves in the Tourism and Hotel business for five whole days.

Recently, Emily from the PIHMS came to Opihi to give a presentation of what the school offers. After the presentation during our regular Wednesday afternoon careers lesson, the girls approached Emily to ask for more information about the Tourism business and the opportunity arrived.

Once at the school, the group will get to try all of the different aspects of running a hotel. Serving in a restaurant, front-desk reception and even changing beds!  The group will stay in their own twin-share rooms and will get to know other visiting students from all over New Zealand.

During this term, the PIHMS group will be opening the canteen each week to fundraise money to go towards their flights and the cost of their trip.
