Rugby, Culture, and Bonds: A Winning Combo!

Anna McNoeMay 1, 2024

Welcome to the journey of discovering values and skills that go beyond rugby. Diving into culture and forging friendships that last. Opihi College student Coby Hines took part in the 2024 E tū Toa NZ Rugby Māori Under 18 Boys Ngā Whatukura camps. These camps are an opportunity for all Māori rangatahi to participate and succeed as Māori.

Starting the day, we went to the Marae and had a welcome and then got to know each other. We stayed overnight in the Marae, and built relationships with heaps of other students over some great kai. The second day we spent with our team, practicing for our game and finding our strengths and weaknesses. My girlfriend signed me up for it! But it was a truly amazing experience.
