The writing on the wall

ArtMarch 4, 2025

The senior visual arts students spent the day exploring our local heritage site at Te Ana Ngāi Tahu Māori Rock Art and then the Timaru Rock Art Museum. They were fortunate enough to see the Opihi Taniwha in its  original location and hear the stories connected to early New Zealand settlers.

Following an informative tour of the Rock Art museum, which looked at local NZ rock art and how it was created in more detail, the students explored a tour of Timaru's modern day street art surrounding Stafford Street.

A fantastic day rich in art immersion old and new to stimulate the minds of our young artists, and provide the basis for NCEA achievement standards.
