Records tumble at Opihi College Swimming Sports

The Opihi College 2024 Swimming Sports were held at the Temuka Swimming Pool in February with hot sunny weather, a great pool and blistering swim times - a total of 15 new records set in the competitions this year!

Well done to all of the entrants in our 2024 Swimming Sports, where there was a range of competitive and non-competitive events for students to choose from.  

Special congratulations to our swimmers who set so many new records:  Leia Gerber set eight new records - Year 7&8 girls 100m Freestyle, 100m Breast stroke, 50m Backstroke, 100m Medley, 100m Backstroke, 50m Breast stroke, 25m Breast stroke and 50 m Freestyle - a fantastic achievement!  Sophie Donald set a new record of 17.25s in the Year 7&8 Girls Freestyle - well done!  Hayden Young set six new records - Year 9&10 Boys 100m Freestyle, 25m Backstroke, 100m Breast stroke, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breast stroke and 25m Breast stroke - great effort!
