Ready to borrow!

You may have noticed that at the bottom of our new website page there is a link to "Library Directory". This link will take you through to our online book catalogue, where you can browse for titles that live in the college!

Just recently we finished adding 200 art books to the Art, Design and Textiles Department - with an outstanding collection of NZ artists featured. These books are invaluble as a resource for Art students, as there are contemporary and classic artists featured as well as many copies that instruct artistic technique. The great thing about these books is that unlike a screen, you can leave the page open as long as you like - and it won't "time out"!

As Alice and I were cataloguing we came across an original and very old copy of Russell Flint's Drawings from 1950 - still with the original stamps and copperplate handwriting in it. When we looked online to value it, we saw that the replacement cost was $580. Consequently, that copy will be going in the "restricted area".

Each department in the college has it's own collection, with our overall collection currently sitting at just under 2,000 copies, with around another 200 or so still to be added.

Students are able to search and self-borrow using our new library software. They can borrow for 6 weeks, reserve copies and request new books if we don't currently have them in the collection.
