Busy Going Crazy
Design Honours students Rosette Hailes-Paku and Jessie Hamilton want to help people find their own unique place in the world, to find fun and fantasy even if it comes with drama and angst. This involves a plethora of emotions, on a roller-coaster of highs and lows between moments of euphoria, confusion and uncertainty. They want to promote freedom from tradition, authority and conformity and to inspire rebellion and divergence.
Rosette and Jessie completed an interdisciplinary collaborative honours year project, developing the Busy Going Crazy brand and producing an eight-look collection of clothing which was part of the Graduate Show during New Zealand Fashion Week 2019.
Their work is informed by their personal experiences living in Dunedin, and is a form of social commentary on Dunedin's history and youth culture, drawing from punk aesthetics and values. They want their customers to feel unafraid to pursue all things crazy and irresponsible, to do what they want, when they want.
Our work promotes individual identity and freedom of expression. We encourage the rejection of mainstream culture whilst rebelling WITH A CAUSE.
