MasterBurger competition

Could you design a winning burger?

Max Sims, the Community Manager at Otago Polytechnic's Student Village Te Pā Tauira, was keen to help students relax at the end of their first semester and also make more connections with one another. He worked with a group of four of our Event Management students to create an event to achieve these goals.

The four students conceived the MasterBurger event, and carried out all the planning, execution and evaluation. They secured sponsorship from ReBurger and Otago Polytechnic. Originally aimed at residents of Te Pā Tauira, the event was opened up to other Otago Polytechnic students as well.

The event began with a series of fun games to help members of each seven person team get to know each other and relax. Then the teams were supplied with ingredients to create their own masterburger. A panel of judges considered presentation, creativity and taste. All participants were provided with a burger to eat, and there were spot prizes for participating as well as for the winning team. The winning burger was added to ReBurger's menu for a month.
