Change management

How can a company help employees and clients transition to a new product?

Amongst other things Altex Coatings' business includes the supply of fireproofing products. One of their product lines was about to be discontinued, and they needed to deal with the introduction of a replacement product to the market.

Applied Management student Rodney Stringer undertook a research project exploring how the company should deal with this transition for its employees and clients. He conducted surveys of 22 of the company's employees and 20 of their clients. The survey provided the opportunity for clients and employees alike to communicate to the company any issues they perceived with the transition.

Rodney recommended that the company ensure that both employees and clients receive training for the new product. This would help ensure that employees are able to support clients who are not happy about the change.
