Terry Singh | Learning Coach

Ormiston Junior College —

Teachers have the privilege to empower children. The spark of inspiration is what students value a teacher for all their lives.

Kia Ora Koutou my name is Terry & I feel privileged when I walk into OJC every day. I have always been interested in Science.   After completing my Masters degree in Industrial Chemistry, I have worked in the Chemical Industry,  manufacturing Stearic Acid, Soap & Glycerol. I have also been involved in my own business.

I then completed my Graduate Diploma in Teaching Secondary from the University of Auckland. Teaching is my passion and I always support my teaching with real-life examples. I am a staunch believer in a growth mindset and feel that all learners at OJC can excel in any learning area.

Regarding maths, I believe that we all are born as mathematicians. Math is not only a language, math is a sense, math is the sense of patterns, relationships and making logical connections. It’s a new way to see the world around us. I also love science and keep planning magical activities to inspire learners interest in the subject.  I could teach it all day. I keep trying to expand the science curriculum to engage students in different science competencies. I am a hands-on person and love the Inquiry learning environment at OJC which supports learners to develop 21st-century skills.

I enjoy a stress-free life by living in the present moment as the past is irrelevant and the future is uncertain.
