I began my career in teaching in Los Angeles, California, in 1999. I taught there for five years when, while researching the film set of The Lord of the Rings, my family and I decided we needed a holiday! A very long holiday. And in fact, we never returned!

Kia ora tātou! I began my career in teaching in Los Angeles, California, in 1999. I taught there for five years when, while researching the film set of The Lord of the Rings, my family and I decided we needed a holiday! A very long holiday. And in fact, we never returned!

Our holiday began in The Bay of Plenty, where I taught at Whakatane High School, in The Bay of Plenty, from 2005 - 2016. During that time I was a Head of House for seven years, an NCEA examination marker for nine years, and a basketball coach for eleven years.

In 2017 we went to Hamburg, Germany for another adventure! I taught English in the International Baccalaureate Programme and was also a marker for their Language and Literature exams. In 2020 we decided to come back to the safety and familiarity of Aotearoa.

At school I enjoy getting to know students and challenging myself to be a more effective mentor, advisor and coach, every day.
